Recap —————————————————————————————-
3:30-4:00 PM Check-in
4:00-5:20 PM Scavenger hunt throughout Discovery Science Center
To make the program educational and fun for students, the program started with a scavenger hunt in the Discovery Science Center to give younger students a chance to approach and mingle with the college students. 11 Undergraduate, graduates, and professional were in different exhibit areas, each with secret mission stickers for the students to complete. Of course, our famous “Science Is (fill in the blank)” photoshoot was a huge hit!. Imagiscience student volunteers also interviewed the attendees to find out how they feel about controversial issues in science.
5:30-6:00 PM Theater opened, Introduction from Imagiscience and Discovery Science Center
6:00-8:00 PM 10-minute Powerpoint presentations each by 11 students from top colleges
6 Undergraduates, 4 graduates, and 1 professional highlighted their extracurricular activities and secrets to success in the Discovery Science Center theater (i.e. why they believe they were accepted to top colleges) Elementary, middle, and high school students and parents passed around a Question Box and a Comment Box to submit their questions anonymously during the presentations. Questions are still being organized and answered by students from top universities after the event and posted on Facebook as we type!
8:00-8:30 PM Raffle prizes / Closing
The program concluded with raffle prize give-a-ways! Imagiscience Board of Advisors were also present to celebrate the very first national program.
